MARCH 4, 2010 -- The Utah Telecommunications Open Infrastructure Agency (UTOPIA) announced that Telesphere, a nationwide hosted PBX business phone and Internet services provider, is the latest provider to join the UTOPIA fiber to the premises (FTTP) network.

The UTOPIA comprises a group of 16 Utah cities with a combined population of over 500,000 that operate an open access FTTP fiber-optic network that serves homes and businesses. (See "UTOPIA connects 100-Mbps FTTP Internet service")

Telesphere delivers a package of IP telephone services and Internet access to businesses throughout the United States. Telesphere’s services are designed to enable businesses to enjoy all of the latest voice and data features of large businesses without the costly investment of on-premises equipment.

Telesphere is converging office PBX phone service, cellular phones, PCs, and unified communications features. Telesphere fully manages its customers’ services over a private IP facilities-based network.

“The Telesphere solution is an invaluable addition to UTOPIA’s lineup of business providers,” says Todd Marriott, UTOPIA’s executive director. “Their smart voice and data solutions offer Utah’s businesses incredible flexibility and simplicity, all over the power of UTOPIA’s fiber-to-the-premise technology. Their innovative product provides service to customers in more than 40 states and we’re pleased to bring their experience and quality to the cities of UTOPIA.”
