AUGUST 23, 2010 -- ADTRAN Inc. says that NTELOS -- a provider of wireless and wireline communications to consumers and businesses in Virginia, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania -- has selected ADTRAN’s flagship product, the Total Access 5000 Multi-Service Access and Aggregation Platform (MSAP) and Total Access 300 Series ONTs for its 9,000-home GPON deployment funded by the broadband stimulus program.

AUGUST 23, 2010 -- ADTRAN Inc. (NASDAQ:ADTN) says that NTELOS -- a provider of wireless and wireline communications to consumers and businesses in Virginia, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania -- has selected ADTRAN’s flagship product, the Total Access 5000 Multi-Service Access and Aggregation Platform (MSAP) and Total Access 300 Series ONTs for its 9,000-home GPON deployment funded by the broadband stimulus program.

ADTRAN says the Total Access 5000, with its all-Ethernet core, will enable NTELOS to cost-effectively provide fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and broadband DLC services. In addition to this award, NTELOS will also deploy the platform for GPON and broadband DLC applications throughout its serving areas.

The systems house says NTELOS selected the Total Access 5000 based on the services that can be supported by a single platform, as well as the warranty and technical support ADTRAN could provide.

“We are pleased to expand our strategic relationship with ADTRAN. A trusted partner for many years, ADTRAN will now be a key vendor for GPON and broadband DLC deployments throughout our network,” said Glenn Butler, NTELOS vice president of wireline engineering and planning. “We have deployed the Total Access 5000 in other parts of our network and know its benefits first hand. This product will allow us to quickly and efficiently expand our fiber network to the customer, providing higher broadband speeds and IPTV service.”
