BalsamWest FiberNET chooses network management software from Infrax Systems for Southeast telecom system
JANUARY 19, 2010 -- Officials of BalsamWest FiberNET LLC , a fiber optic broadband company in Sylva, N.C., needed fault detection and support service software for its SONET and Ethernet-based services in North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, and South Carolina. They found their solution from Infrax Systems Inc. in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Infrax, formerly known as OptiCon Systems Inc., is providing its Opticon Network Management System software because of its fault-detection, GIS application integration, and ease of implementation through Infrax's ASP hosting services, Infrax officials say.
"Infrax's Opticon NMS solution provided the best implementation support services, the best economics, and the fault-detection capabilities," says David Hubbs, chief executive officer at BalsamWest FiberNET, which has announced plans to release VOIP phone and high-speed Internet services this year.
"The breadth and depth of the application capabilities, especially its GIS integration, will identify network outages, allowing us to improve customer service without disrupting our business operations," says Ron Massingale, vice president of sales and marketing at BalsamWest FiberNET.
"We've tried other operations software solutions, but their lack of implementation support consumed too many of our resources to be effective," Massingale says. "The support offered to us by Infrax, makes this a 'win-win' decision that has already resulted in improving our network management."
