JUNE 28, 2010 -- ADTRAN Inc., (NASDAQ:ADTN) has announced that Douglas Fast Net (DFN), a provider of fixed fiber and wireless broadband in Oregon, has selected the Total Access 5000 as a key element of its broadband stimulus deployment throughout Southern Oregon.
The project, a joint public-private partnership between Douglas Fast Net and the Lane Council of Governments, will address the expansion of broadband to underserved community anchor institutions such as schools, libraries, municipal buildings, non-profit health centers, and small businesses. Following completion of this middle-mile project Douglas Fast Net will continue to expand its DSL, business Ethernet and fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) services using ADTRAN equipment throughout its growing footprint.
“ADTRAN has been on the forefront of the broadband stimulus effort. Their leadership and understanding of the stimulus program gives us an extra measure of confidence going into this project,” said Todd Way, general manager, Douglas Fast Net. “On the product side, ADTRAN’s Total Access 5000 is a perfect fit for our copper and fiber service delivery. Having a single system to support all services, from GPON to Carrier Ethernet, by simply adding a module, provides the flexibility and operational savings that we need.”
