Corning adds planner, terminals, test assistance to Evolv FTTH connectivity line

Corning Inc. (NYSE:GLW) says it has expanded its Evolv FTTH network connectivity portfolio to provide additional flexibility and efficiency. The additions include an app designed to aid permitting, new terminal options, and increased support of network testing.

The additions include:

  • The Evolv AR Visualizer, an app that enables the user to project terminals onto images of building or room walls. According to Kara Mullaley, market development manager at Corning Optical Communications, the tool should be useful in speeding permit approvals and consent from building owners by showing what a finished terminal installation will look like. The app is available from the usual sources.
  • New Evolv terminal options, including a 12-port single-layer terminal for both pole and façade attachments. The terminals feature a paintable cover which would enable the enclosure to blend into its surroundings, Mullaley said.
  • Evolv terminal-port reflectors that can provide network troubleshooting and monitoring systems with reflected light. The reflective material is contained within a dust plug; plugs are available that will reflect light at such common monitoring wavelengths as 1625 and 1650 nm.

The new terminals and the Visualizer app are available now; the terminal-port reflectors are available for order with what Mullaley called a “reasonable lead time.”
