Fujikura Europe Ltd. has launched the new One-Click Cleaner MPO designed specifically for cleaning MPO/MTP fiber-optic connectors, which are widely used in data-center networks and some telco-operated infrastructure.

The new product cleans MPO/MTP connector end-faces that have been exposed to surface contaminants such as dirt and oil from an installer’s fingers. With one simple action, it can clean a variety of fiber counts up to 48-fiber MPO/MTP and is capable of providing over 500 cleans per unit.

The One-Click Cleaner MPO has also been produced to be more ergonomic than Fujikura’s previous design, the company claims. It’s able to effectively remove contaminants to the same high standard and low cost per clean but at a significantly faster pace.

“This new tool will not only make the task of cleaning these abundant connectors easier and quicker with improved functionality, it will keep the cost per clean down and allow for in situ cleans too, which some other cleaners are not able to do,” says Brian Leonard, European product manager, connectivity. “This is the first MPO device in the Fujikura One Click Cleaner range, and we created it primarily to service the data-center market.”

The cleaner is compliant with the EU/95/2002/EC directive (RoHS) since it’s made of environmentally friendly materials. An adapter/dust cap is also supplied with the product for cleaning MPO/MTP connector plugs as well as the connectors themselves.
