Leviton has unveiled the Opt-X HD Fiber Enclosure System, designed to increase fiber density by as much as 50% within the same rack space. A member of the company’s Opt-X line of fiber-optic connectivity products, the system includes high-density enclosures, MTP cassettes, and adapter plates.

The new Opt-X Evolve MTP cassettes and adapter plates fit into the Opt-X Ultra HD and Opt-X 1000i HD 1RU and 2RU enclosures. The fiber MTP cassettes are pre-terminated, pre-tested, and come with 12- or 24-fiber MTP fiber-optic connectors. The pass-through adapter plates are available with MTP, LC, or SC adapter types.

Both fiber-optic enclosures can accommodate up to 1152 fibers in a 1RU space and 2304 fibers in a 2RU space when using 24-fiber MTP connectors. The enclosures can accommodate 96 fibers in a 1RU space when using LC connectors. The combination of MTP cassettes and adapter plates in conjunction with Opt-X Unity products enables smooth migration to 10-, 40-, and 100-Gbps transmission speeds, Leviton asserts.

The enclosures include a removable sliding. An optional retrofit sliding tray enables users to adopt existing Opt-X Ultra or 1000i enclosures to accept the Opt-X Evolve cassettes and adapter plates. Thus users can improve rack space density without buying a new enclosure.

“The Opt-X HD Fiber Enclosure System is ideal for data center and enterprise applications where network expansion is a priority, now and in the future,” said Tony Yuen, senior product manager, fiber, for Leviton Network Solutions. “This scalable solution allows you to increase port density in racks to meet expanding networking demands.”
