Device Technologies, Inc. introduces a new Radius Control Module (RCM) designed to provide BICSI recommended minimum bend radius for sensitive fiber optic cables, assuring consistent data transmission in telecommunications and data communications networks. NEBS compliant, the RCM's snap-in-place design speeds wiring integration efforts and increases productivity.

Data transmission rate is critical for customer satisfaction through fiber optic cables. The speed of data transmission is impaired by too small a bend in the cable, so a means of controlling the bend radius is essential. While there are a number of custom OEM products on the market, Device Technologies is the first to offer an off-the-shelf radius control solution.

The RCM product line includes radius control modules in three different widths: 3.00" (76mm), 1.75" (44mm), and 1.00" (25mm). The universal RCM is designed to snap on to any sheet metal edge up to .104" (2.7mm) for typical cabinet wire egress. Of particular interest to the installation contractor, where clip-on edges are non-existent, is the perpendicular screw mounting option to accommodate service loops. The 3"-wide module is presently available for snap mounting only.

Typical applications in telecom and datacom networks include fiber system patch panels, fiber interconnect panels, switches, routers, and multiplexers, among others. Several RCM modules may be combined to create service loop configurations; 180 (degree) wire loops; and to separate and control wires.

The RCM is molded of UL94V-0 flame retardant impact resistant polycarbonate, available in black, office equipment beige, or custom matched colors on special orders. It is rigid enough to withstand large bundle loads, and its slotted side design accommodates stacking of multiple or various lengths.
