Optical Cable Corporation receives $10 million military order

Optical Cable Corporation has received a $10 million order for fiber optic cable from the U.S. government for various military deployments.

Optical Cable Corporation (Nasdaq: OCCF) announced that is has received a $10 million order for fiber optic cable from the U.S. government for various military deployments. Cable comprising $1.2 million of the contract is to be delivered over the next three months.

According to Bob Kopstein, President and Chief Executive Officer of Optical Cable, during Desert Storm, the company provided military tactical fiber optic cable capable of delivering vital communications in harsh combat environments with absolutely no signal degradation.

Now in peace-time, Mr. Kopstein said that there has been a major effort to standardize, commercialize and adapt military communications systems for such installations as disaster backup support, as well as the military communication infrastructures of NATO allies.

According to Mr. Kopstein, many of the new orders are scheduled to ship over the next 6 to 12 months.
