Scotland’s Lothian Broadband taps Adtran for XGS-PON core broadband network

The service provider is replacing its fixed wireless access with fiber to the premises (FTTP) infrastructure in underserved regions of Scotland.

Adtran, Inc. says it will provide XGS-PON hardware and related software and services to Lothian Broadband for the design and construction of a new core network. The service provider is replacing its fixed wireless access with fiber to the premises (FTTP) infrastructure in underserved regions of Scotland.

Adtran will work with technology partners for the core network project, which will carries a target premise yield of 99%. The broadband technology provider is supplying it 10G fiber access platform, including XGS-PON gear and cloud software. The cloud software supports AI-driven, adaptive WiFi management.

Our new fiber network will ultimately allow us to become the broadband leader and allow the communities we service to be connected to new digital applications and economic opportunities.”
