August 9, 2005 Hayward, CA -- Valdor Fiber Optics has launched its Tri HeptoWave WDM 1310/1490/1550 add/drop device, designed for FTTH and FTTP applications. Based on the company's patented Impact Mount technology, the "3-in-1" add/drop device employs the company's HeptoPort self-aligned two dimensional fiber bundle connection. The company says the device can reduce total add/drop cost and space by up to a factor of three.

The device enables a single optical filter with three wavelengths (1310/1490/1550) to be shared by up to three add/drop multiplexers. The company says the device offers excellent channel bandwidth, flexible channel configuration, low insertion loss, and high isolation. Other features of the device, according to the company, include high density per surface area to interconnect optical elements, and epoxy-free construction in the optical path.
