ECI and Polish systems integrator Sprint S.A. have collaborated to deploy a greenfield fiber-optic broadband network in Sosnowiec, Poland. The deployment is part of a $5.6 million project co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund called "Development of Information Society in Zagłębie Dąbrowskie – Municipality Sosnowiec, 2007-2013."
The broadband infrastructure program aims to provide local government and other anchor institutions with triple-lay services, including video conferencing, e-Commerce, e-Education, e-Government, and e-Health.
The ECI/Sprint deployment included the construction and organization of a fiber-optic network, an IP-MPLS backbone, an access network, and a network management center. The new infrastructure includes elements of ECI's family of packet-optical transport systems.
"We selected ECI's Packet-Optical solution, because they are industry-proven with an impressive track record. In addition, the company has an excellent reputation for service. This has been a wonderful first project together. ECI not only met expectations, they exceeded them. We look forward to working on many more projects together," said Marek Kaminski, President of the Board from Sprint S.A.
