FEBRUARY 5, 2009 -- Corning Cable Systems GmbH & Co KG, part of Corning Inc.'s (search for Corning) Telecommunications segment, will present its Ascend Multi-Dwelling Unit (MDU) System at the Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) Council Europe Conference 2009, to be held at the Bella Center in Copenhagen, Denmark, from February 11-12, 2009.
According to Corning Cable Systems, its Ascend MDU System enables fibre-optic networks to be installed quickly and cost effectively into challenging high-rise apartment buildings and MDUs, which are one of the major residential architectures in Europe.
The Corning exhibit will also include the Corning Cable Systems OptiRise Cable Assembly, which is designed to meet the requirements of MDUs where fast riser installation and customer connection are paramount.
"The OptiRise(tm) Cable Assembly is an ideal solution for indoor fibre deployment," contends Dr. Thomas Knuth, FTTH system and product portfolio manager, Corning Cable Systems, EMEA. "Our product allows fibres to be broken out at floor level without the need to access the cable jacket. The benefits of this innovative approach enable considerable advantages in the speed of deployment, while significantly decreasing the number of skilled installers needed to complete an installation successfully," he notes. "In combination with Corning's ClearCurve fibre, this system combines the advantages of a 'plug & play' approach with excellent cable bend performance."
With its Ascend MDU system, Corning says it continues to reinforce its commitment to providing innovative fibre-optic products to the industry and closing the digital divide in Europe.
Corning Cable Systems will display its Ascend MDU System on the Corning interactive exhibit (stand G10).
