SEPTEMBER 25, 2007 -- OFS (search for OFS) has announced the introduction of V-Linx Spool & Play Solution for fiber to the multiple-dwelling unit (search for MDU) deployments. Developed as a part of OFS' Access ADVANTAGE FTTH System, the V-Linx Solution can speed and simplify fiber installation in typical low, medium, or high-rise MDUs and reduce both labor cost and space by up to 50%, claim OFS representatives.

"The V-Linx Solution can help our customers deploy a full spectrum bend-optimized optical path to each MDU living unit faster, at a lower total cost, with less inventory," contends Bill Kloss, NAR president, Cable, Connectivity, and FTTx at OFS. "This solution demonstrates that OFS is committed to helping improve the ROI of MDU fiber deployments for carriers and deployments of all sizes," he adds.

According to the company, the V-Linx Solution includes four simple, yet innovative components that can flexibly adapt to nearly any MDU environment in both existing and new buildings, and all can be quickly deployed and connected in a plug-and-play manner. They are the EZ-Plug FDH, EZ-Spool Combiner, EZ-Spool Terminal, and EZ-Reach Drop assemblies. All V-Linx components are enabled by OFS' AllWave FLEX ZWP fiber, OFS' bend-optimized singlemode ZWP fiber.

The V-Linx Solution will be showcased in a display (booth 613) emulating a real MDU deployment and commercially available at the FTTH Conference 2007, to be held from September 30 October 3, 2007 in Orlando, FL.
