Fujikura added the LC connector for access gateway vendors interested in increasing fiber port density and implementing smaller subscriber termination boxes. The product targets increased fiber to the home (FTTH) rollouts in Europe, said Brian Leonard, manager, Fujikura Europe, adding that it is designed to keep cost-per-subscriber in the European market minimized.

Field-installable, the connectors require no assembly tooling, polishing, or epoxy resin. They cater to 250-µm to 900-µm-diameter single- and multi-mode fiber types, including multi-mode 62.5/125 µm and multi-mode 50/125 µm. The connectors are 10-G fiber/OM3-compliant. The RJ latch system mounted to the top of the connector housing is designed for engineers to perform single-handed insertion and retraction.
