Fiber-based ISP GoNetspeed is making its debut in Connecticut. The company is using a recently completed 50-mile fiber-optic network to offer services in parts of West Hartford, New Haven, and Bridgeport, Connecticut. GoNetspeed says it currently has the ability to serve more than 12,000 homes in the three communities, where it will offer gigabit broadband. It plans to expand its footprint in the state as well.

GoNetspeed was founded by Frank Chiaino, who also formed Fibertech Networks, a fiber-based service provider focused on the U.S. Northeast that Lightower acquired in 2015 (see "Lightower completes Fibertech Networks merger"). The company first offered gigabit broadband services in Pennsylvania before expanding into Connecticut.

“What differentiates GoNetspeed from other providers is our ability to offer customers direct access to 100 percent fiber connectivity, without any extra fees or taxes, and with no contract required,” said GoNetspeed President Larry Coleman. “We also provide customers a Lifetime Price Pledge that guarantees they pay the same price for their Internet speeds for the entire time they remain a customer within a GoNetspeed service territory.”

The company offers three service tiers to residences in Connecticut. Service plans start at $50 for 100 Mbps, with 500 Mbps and 1 Gbps available as well. GoNetspeed adds it will waive its $100 installation fee for all serviceable customers as part of an introductory offer.

The direction of further expansion in the state will depend on customer demand. Areas will need to demonstrate interest of at least 15% interest for consideration, based on registration on GoNetspeed’s website.
