Netomnia, STL set live network tests of programmable FTTx

The announcement comes as the two companies have partnered for support of Netomnia’s fiber to the premises (FTTP) roll out.

STL (NSE:STLTECH) says it will collaborate with UK broadband altnet operator Netomnia on test of STL’s programmable FTTx (pFTTx) software. The tests will run over Netomnia’s live networks.

The announcement comes as the two companies have partnered for support of Netomnia’s fiber to the premises (FTTP) roll out (see “STL to aid Netomnia FTTP deployments in the UK”). Now, Netomnia and STL will trial pFTTx, which the latter says is designed to provide scalability, detailed telemetry reports, open community alignment (ONF/BBF/ITU-T), and onboarding of third-party quality of experience (QoE) applications. These benefits will in turn improve customer experience, accelerate time-to-market, and reduce total cost of ownership, the communications technology vendor adds.
