JDSU Adds 10G Capability to Industry-Leading Ethernet-over-SONET/SDH Test Solution
Milpitas, California, April 20, 2006 -- JDSU today introduced a new test solution for labs, equipment manufacturers and network operators offering design and system verification of new SONET/SDH network elements and networks up to 10 Gigabits per second (10Gb/s). The features are combined in a single module for the JDSU ONT-50 and ONT-506/512 platform and provide comprehensive testing for Ethernet over SONET/SDH, also referred to as new or next generation SONET/SDH.
The new module further strengthens the ability of the ONT-50/506/512 to support test needs of manufacturers and carriers worldwide by joining a broad range of Ethernet modules with optical and electrical interfaces that provide complete testing across new SONET/SDH and Ethernet signals.
"The surge of broadband traffic in optical networks and the vital role of error-free service mean equipment manufacturers and carriers require a test solution that meets the challenge of being standards-compliant, multi-functional and dependable," said Bernhard Mueller, general manager for JDSU's optical transport Test and Measurement group. "With these new upgrades, JDSU provides the market with a fast, portable, modular instrument designed to meet the demanding needs of both carriers and equipment manufacturers confronted by the complex challenges of deploying SONET/SDH and Ethernet."
About JDSU's Ethernet-over-SONET/SDH Test Solution
Supporting JDSU's ONT Optical Network Tester product line, the new SONET/SDH test solution extends the successful 2.5Gb/s new SONET/SDH solution to 10Gb/s. The new module handles the differential delay generation and analysis of low- and high-order virtual containers and GFP and MAC frames for Ethernet traffic generation and analysis. The solution provides full emulation of the LCAS protocol, and easy capture and decode of LCAS messaging via the state tracer utility. By fully addressing these applications, JDSU's new SONET/SDH solution supports the test requirements of manufacturers and operators seeking faster return on investment (ROI), reduced operating expenses as well as new business and service models through these new technologies.
About the JDSU ONT-506/512 Optical Network Tester
