Marconi taps World Wide Packets for active Ethernet equipment
August 22, 2005 Spokane Valley, WA -- World Wide Packets, specialist in carrier-class Ethernet access networking, today announced that Marconi has selected the LightningEdge solution for connection to its IMPACT SoftSwitch XCD5000. According to the companies, this partnership provides a fully integrated Voice-over-Internet-Protocol (VoIP) solution that dramatically accelerates time to market for triple-play services.
"Having a company of Marconi's scale and stature select our broadband access solution shows the interoperability and flexibility of World Wide Packets' implementation of Active Ethernet," contends Dave Curry, president and CEO, World Wide Packets. "Marconi has a history of delivering competitive solutions to its customers. By joining our relative strengths--World Wide Packets access portals and concentrators--with Marconi's softswitch, we can offer an unparalleled triple-play solution for customers."
The partnership also creates a global referral program in which World Wide Packets is certified to work in conjunction with Marconi's SoftSwitch to deliver derived voice. The companies confirm that several large networks have already deployed the combined offering.
