Telecommunications Inc., Vancouver, WA, has achieved milestones on a pair of projects. The company broke ground on construction of a 500-mi fiber-optic network that will link San Francisco with Los Angeles. The company plans to begin offering service on the route during the first quarter of next year. Meanwhile, the company began offering service on its Hawaiian Island Fiber Network, which spans more than 300 mi. The network links all six major Hawaiian islands with up to 24 fiber strands operating at a maximum transmission rate of 2.5 Gbits/sec. A Nortel dms-500 SuperNode switching system provides the heart of the network.
