Alcatel Telecom in Richardson, TX, recently completed switch cutovers totaling 130,000 telephone lines in a nynex central office facility in Cambridge, MA, using the Alcatel Flashcut feature. This capability lets service providers maintain normal service when replacing equipment and performing other maintenance tasks. An Alcatel 1631 SX wideband digital crossconnect system executed the Flashcut by remapping electronically nynex`s live traffic from the old digital crossconnect.
