Optical Cable Corp. of Roanoke, VA, was awarded the first phase of a $3 million to $6 million project for a country in the Far East. The first phase involves installing a fiber-optic backbone network to connect 104 elementary and high schools, enabling them to communicate with each other and providing them access to the Internet. The entire project is expected to be completed over the next 12 months and will include a total of 1300 schools. Optical Cable Corp. did not name the country.
