Tulsa, OK, has announced beta network test plans for a new compressed dedicated fiber video transmission service. The service, which uses mpeg-2 compression technology from Nortel, will enable multiple video signals to coexist within the same DS-3 44.736-Mbit/sec transmission path. The service will occupy a 6.312-Mbit/sec bandwidth that can be multiplexed into a DS-3 stream.
