Promon Inc. and Telecomunicacoes do Rio de Janeiro (telerj) have chosen Advanced Fibre Communications Inc., Petaluma, CA, to provide digital-loop carrier systems for telerj`s telecommunications network in Barra da Tijuca, a residential area of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The deal calls for the delivery of "hundreds" of umc 1000s to provide 35,000 lines of voice and data services in and around Rio de Janeiro.
