Fiber-optic cable fault locator

The Cold Clamp system helps locate faults in fiber-optic cable systems. It is attached to the cable close to the estimated location of an optical cable fault. Liquid nitrogen is then poured into the clamp, which creates a temporary optical-loss point of approximately 0.2 to 1 dB at the point on the cable where it is located. The location can then be detected by an otdr. The system includes a liquid nitrogen storage and transport container, protective equipment, tools, a manual, and the cold clamp.
