The 1603/12 SM R 6.0 Sonet multiplexer with the FlexPoint plug-in transmultiplexer card effectively translates between asynchronous DS-1 to DS-3 multiplexing structures and Sonet VT to sts-1. The 1603/12 SM accommodates three FlexPoint options--any mix of electrical DS-1, DS-3/sts-1, or optical OC-3 (155-Mbit/ sec) interfaces--and can be upgraded to OC-12 (622 Mbits/sec).
