Siemens to speed ICN job cuts

23 August 2002 -- Siemens AG aims to accelerate its 20,000 planned job cuts at its IC Networks unit from end-September 2003 to end-2002, according to Leonhard Mayer, the deputy head of the workers council at ICN's Munich headquarters.

Siemens has announced three rounds of job cuts at ICN since last year, totalling 16,500, and it emerged at the beginning of this month that it aims to cut a further 4,000.
