Opticomm Corp., designer and manufacturer of fiber-optic transport systems, has introduced the DVX-104, its newest fiber-optic video transmission system for broadcast applications.

The DVX-104 offers broadcasters reliable high-performance transport of one SDI with four external audio channels or two stereo AES/EBU signals at up to 270 Mbits/sec over one singlemode fiber, claims the company. Designed to surpass industry standards, the DVX-104 exceeds the DVB optical interface requirements. Featuring a Bit Error Rate (BER) of 10-14 and a plug-and-play design, the DVX-104 gives broadcasters and service providers the high quality results and ease of operation they demand.

"Conventional coaxial cables can carry digital video signals only a few hundred meters," explains David Caidar, chief operating officer of Opticomm Corp. "The DVX-104 carries the signals up to 40 km using singlemode fiber with no degradation. This makes a huge difference in terms of distance, reliability and quality of transmission."

The DVX-104, complying with 259M and 272M standards, is designed for a wide range of digital applications requiring the highest quality, including Digital Television, Studio-transmitter links, Radiology and Medical Imaging, and Sporting/Special Events coverage.
