Volex establishes cable production facility in Poland
20 May 2002 -- Volex intends to establish cabled fibre production operations in Tczew, Poland, having acquired the cable assembly activities of Flextronics in that country. Approximately 50 Flextronics employees in Poland will transfer to Volex.
Volex will develop this new manufacturing site to support its total cable assembly portfolio for the European infocom market, including industry standard switching and networking assemblies, radio frequency assemblies and fibre optic assemblies.
Steve Martson, senior VP and chief procurement officer at Flextronics, said, "By locally procuring cable assemblies from Volex, we will integrate our strategic suppliers who partner with us, therefore shortening our supply lines and reducing costs for our customers in the industrial park."
Dom Molloy, Volex Group Chief Executive, said, "This co-operation with Flextronics ties in with our strategy to develop global partnerships with the key players in the electronic manufacturing services industry."
