Meanwhile, Pirelli Cables and Systems North America is incorporating a Corning Inc. enhancement into its singlemode fiber-optic cable to improve splicing efficiency. In September 1997, Corning Inc., Corning, NY, tightened its specification for core-clad concentricity by 25%, from ٞ.8 micron to ٞ.6 micron. All Pirelli cable manufactured after November 1, 1997, and using Corning fiber will meet the new specification.
