Esprit Telecom Group plc (Reading, UK) and Fibernet (Calleva Park, UK) announced an agreement that gives Esprit Telecom wholesale access to TANet, Fibernet`s national Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) backbone network. The deal offers Esprit Telecom national network access across the United Kingdom by making available TANet`s 35-city fiber-optic network. In return, TANet will directly connect to Esprit Telecom`s pan-European network. Both networks use the same SDH transmission technology and operate at minimum speeds of STM-16 (2.5 Gbits/sec).
