Network-management system

The HP AccessFiber fiber-optic network-management system documents used and spare fiber capacity and network modifications and verifications in real time. The system locates faults automatically. Remote test units, which contain the manufacturer`s optical time-domain reflectometer technology, are installed throughout the network to check the fiber links periodically. The system locates the exact position of the fault and dispatches technicians to fix the fiber. Configuration options range from a single-site stand-alone system to a multiple remote-site system. The system consists of one or several components of measurement hardware, an Oracle database server, and a Window NT-based graphical user interface. The management system starts at less than $70,000.
