CTR Group Ltd. (Woodcliff Lake, NJ) will use optical fiber provided by Corning Inc. (Corning, NY) for construction of its Project Oxygen Network. Corning will supply submarine fiber from its line of non-zero dispersion-shifted fibers to provide high capacity over long distances. Project Oxygen is a planned global optical-fiber undersea cable communications network scheduled to begin cable installation in 1999. The first phase will use approximately 158,000 km of fiber-optic cable, linking 74 locations. Project Oxygen Network`s major transatlantic and transpacific links are scheduled for operation in 2000.
