Hitachi Telecom (USA) Inc. (Norcross, GA) received a purchase order from a major U.S. interexchange carrier for the 4-fiber bidirectional line-switched ring (BLSR) version of its AMN 5192 OC-192 (10-Gbit/sec) sonet transmission equipment. The system was delivered in September 1998. Hitachi did not disclose the name of the customer or the price.
