FiberNet Telecom Group Inc., Rochester, NY, has executed general purchase agreements for telecommunications network products and services from Lucent Technologies, Murray Hill, NJ, through its Local Fiber llc and FiberNet Equal Access llc subsidiaries. Lucent will provide the FiberNet companies with a 5ess-2000 switch, central office power equipment, sonet transport and access equipment, fiber-optic cable products, systems software, engineering, installation, and ongoing technical support. The two companies will also develop a network operations center. FiberNet Equal Access builds and owns high-speed redundant digital fiber-optic transmission networks within high-rise office buildings and leases bandwidth-on-demand to carriers to provide connections to tenants. Local Fiber is a competitive local telecommunications carrier.
