Neptune Communications Corp., Fairfax, VA, plans to install the Pacific Express Cable Network

Neptune Communications Corp., Fairfax, VA, plans to install the Pacific Express Cable Network connecting the US Pacific Northwest to cable-landing points in Guam, Japan, Korea, Canada, and Oahu, HI, in a self-healing ring configuration. Neptune hopes to include China in the fiber-optic network in the future. The 25,000-mi network will be a 4-fiber-pair cable system with a capacity of 80 Gbits/sec. Service will be phased in by segments starting in 1999, with completion scheduled during 2000.
