- One in two are first-time exhibitors at a TELECOM World
12 September 2003 Geneva Switzerland -- One in two exhibitors will showcase their products and services as newcomers to an ITU TELECOM WORLD event, as this year's show opens on 12 October in Geneva, Switzerland.
Europe heads the influx of new exhibitors (74%), followed by the Americas (11%), and Asia (10%). The top three industries represented at the event are the same for both new and returning exhibitors. More than 39% of exhibitors represent the networking business, followed by mobile/wireless (26%) and IP/broadband (25%).
"We are enormously pleased to see the major influx of companies attending a TELECOM WORLD event for the first time. This is a graphic illustration of how the telecommunication industry is reshaping itself, with a new wave of smaller, innovative companies beginning to emerge," said Yoshio Utsumi, Secretary-General of the ITU.
"In addition, the event's mix of top CEOs, regulators and government ministers from around the world creates an ideal launch pad for accessing international markets-for both new exhibitors and major established corporations alike. The people attending this event will shape the nature and direction of the industry."
