ANTEC (Nasdaq: ANTC), a provider of hybrid fiber/coaxial (HFC) broadband transport, announced it will demonstrate its new LightPlex Optical Wave Router (OWR) in ANTEC's booth 2339 at this year's NCTA conference.
LightPlex offers a complete Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM) solution for transporting and monitoring optical signals on ITU wavelengths.
ANTEC's LightPlex system consists of passive DWDM devices and an Optical Performance Manager (OPM). The DWDM provides flexible wavelength routing, ultra-low insertion loss and single-fiber bi-directionality in a small footprint. The DWDM multiplexes and de-multiplexes up to 40 discrete wavelengths in the 1550 nm domain and has less insertion loss than a traditional 16-channel device while providing 40-channel capability, reducing fiber counts.
The OPM provides monitoring for optical power, wavelength and optical signal-to-noise ratio. It has an auto-discovery feature for individual channels and can be remotely managed by a number of methods, including Simple Network Mail Protocol (SNMP), uniquely allowing operators to monitor DWDM activity.
The LightPlex system also delivers built-in upgradability, allowing operators to cost-effectively add channels in either direction over a single fiber, as needed.
LightPlex is available with 100 and 200 GHz channel spacing and comes in an efficient 2 RU (rack unit) package that allows operators to add channels as needed, without system redesign.
The new OWR is currently shipping to a bundled service provider in California.
