ITT Industries, Network Systems & Services launches high-bandwidth OM3 fiber solution

June 11, 2001
June 11, 2001--ITT Industries, Network Systems & Services launched a 10 Gigabit+fiber-optic cabling solution that enables a high-bandwidth, scalable backbone consisting of both multimode and singlemode fibers.

ITT Industries, Network Systems & Services launched a 10 Gigabit+fiber-optic cabling solution that enables a high-bandwidth, scalable backbone consisting of both multimode and singlemode fibers, catering to growing customer bandwidth demand. It incorporates a multimode fiber-optic cable to comply with the new ISO/IEC OM3 standard.

Using low-cost active equipment, this new high-bandwidth optical solution is designed to provide companies with the most technologically advanced and future-protected network, capable of delivering multi-gigabit applications. In addition, this resilient networking solution is flexible enough to be used in backbone or fiber to the desktop applications, with a wide range of connectivity options.

The 50/125um, multimode solution provides a 2.0 GHz bandwidth fiber channel and guarantees data transmission from 10M/bps to 10 G/bps, using the lowest cost 850nm opto-electronics. In addition, the solution provides extended transmission distances of 1,000 meters for Gigabit Ethernet, which allows for diverse routing designs and network resilience.

This extended transmission distance enables the implementation of resilient backbone designs, increasing system fault tolerance and allowing the incorporation of centralized networks -- ultimately reducing active equipment and real estate costs.

The solution carries a lifetime application performance guarantee and 25-year component warranty.
