Pilot network in Washington selects Marconi Deep Fiber Solution

Dec. 18, 2001�Marconi (Pittsburgh, PA) today that a pilot network in Chelan County, Washington has selected the company�s Deep Fiber Solutions�. Marconi will provide a combination of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and fiber-t0-the-business (FTTB) solutions to increase available bandwidth to area consumers and businesses.

Dec. 18, 2001�Marconi (Pittsburgh, PA) today that a pilot network in Chelan County, Washington has selected the company�s Deep Fiber Solutions�. Marconi will provide a combination of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and fiber-t0-the-business (FTTB) solutions to increase available bandwidth to area consumers and businesses.

The pilot projects include 100 businesses in downtown Wenatchee and 250 homes in a Wenatchee neighborhood without high-speed Internet access other than wireless. Chelan County PUD expects to use the data collected from the pilot deployment to decide the future of widespread network in 2002.

The Marconi solutions include optical and broadband switching equipment to form the core of the network, with Marconi�s fiber-to-the-curb and fiber-to-the home solutions as the last mile access components.
