Access equipment provider ADTRAN is entering the optical arena with the announcement of Total Access OPTI-3, a SONET-compliant multiplexer for DS3 transport and delivery that enables service providers to deliver smarter T3 optical services.

Total Access OPTI-3 is an OC-3 multiplexer that deliver three DS3s in a compact package, one-tenth the size of similar products at a fraction of the price, cliams the company. The product supports DS3 delivery from one optical connection, allowing ADTRAN's service provider customers to increase bandwidth efficiency by buying only what they need.
