FLAG Telecom (Nasdaq: FTHL; LSE: FTL), a global network services provider and independent carriers' carrier, announced an expansion of its reach within Asia with the opening of a Point-of-Presence (PoP) in Singapore. With this PoP, which already has customers, FLAG Telecom extends its ability to offer international managed bandwidth services and IP connectivity by connecting Singapore to the FLAG Telecom global network.

FLAG Telecom has been operating in Asia for the past five years through its FLAG Europe-Asia cable and has six sales offices in the region. By adding Singapore to the global network, FLAG Telecom is now able to offer managed bandwidth and IP services from Singapore -- a major hub in Asia -- to major cities around the world, including Tokyo, Hong Kong, Seoul, London, Madrid, New York, San Francisco and Cairo where FLAG Telecom also has PoPs located. The establishment of the Singapore PoP is part of a selective PoP roll-out planned for 2001 in major international business centers worldwide
