Boca Photonics, Inc., an optical networking company that provides service solutions focused on engineering competitive economic advantages for network operators, claims that they will be the first to develop a complete service control solution for optical mesh networks. The Company's hardware and software products will enable network carriers to economically and reliably plan, implement, and restore the next generation wavelength services on their optical mesh network backbones.

The Service Control solution will provide carriers the ability to make more efficient use of their resources resulting in up to 40 percent savings in network engineering, capital expenditures, and operating expenses by integrating and automating key functions of the carriers' capacity fulfillment process. Network operators will be able to manage high-capacity optical paths at a fraction of the cost of traditional SONET/SDH-based transport networks.

Mesh-based networks will be more flexible and as reliable as traditional SONET networks, but the complexity of network implementation and control will greatly increase. The Boca Photonics service control product portfolio will simplify these complex issues and enable carriers to rapidly migrate to meshed-based networks.
