Alcatel Network Systems, Richardson, TX, and Hewlett-Packard Co., Palo Alto, CA, have formed an alliance to cooperate on network management technologies critical to synchronous optical networks.

Also, Alcatel has been awarded a contract by MFS Telecom, Omaha, NB, for the deployment of Sonet crossconnect systems throughout North America. MFS Telecom is an operating company of MFS Communications Co. Inc
