IOT Integrierte Optik GmbH, Waghausel-Kirrlach, Germany, has been awarded the 1995 VDI prize for its development of planar waveguides. VDI is an association for German engineers. Planar waveguides are manufactured via integrated-optics technology, which enables splitting ratios to 1x32.
