FEBRUARY 28, 2008 -- The board of directors of AdTech Optics Inc. (search for AdTech) has announced that the company is spinning out its optical communication products division as a new, privately held corporation named D-Tech Optoelectronics.

The separation of AdTech Optics and D-Tech is based on the divergent businesses of the two companies, says AdTech. AdTech Optics will continue to invest heavily in advanced semiconductor lasers and their applications in the academic, medical, industrial, and security/defense sectors, while D-Tech Optoelectronics will continue to manufacture and sell photodiode and laser diode chips and packages for the communications sector.

Mary Fong, chairman and chief executive officer of AdTech Optics, will assume the responsibilities of chairman and CEO of D-Tech. Xiucheng Wu, PhD, previously of AdTech Optics, will move over to D-Tech as president and chief technology officer.

D-Tech will continue to operate at its current location in the City of Industry and will maintain continuity with current vendors, customers, and partners.
