FEBRUARY 29, 2008 - 3M (search for 3M) has introduced its 660XV diamond lapping film incorporating coating technology that allows for a consistent finish over the life of the product.

"In the right applications, we consider the diamond lapping film 660XV to offer the best value per connector polished because of its high cut rate, consistent finish, and long life," says Jason Buckeye, product marketer at 3M.

The 660XV film is designed for use on all polishing machines and is available in 1-, 3-, 6-, and 9-micron grades. The product offers more than 3x the life of the company's popular 661X diamond lapping film abrasive.

The company anticipates a continued expansion to its final-polish lapping film product line in the near term.
