Vancouver, British Columbia-based Starcom International Optics Corp. has awarded a $23 million contract to AT&T Canada to supply and install a synchronous optical network-based, or Sonet, 300-route-kilometer fiber-optic network that will link Vancouver and Seattle. AT&T Network Systems will provide OC-48 Sonet transmission equipment that transmits at 2.488 gigabits per second.
