Romania network

Siemens Co. in Germany plans to build a 3200-kilometer fiber-optic telecommunications network in Romania for approximately US$23.6 million. The first 1800 km of this national telecommunications network have already been commissioned. The second stage of construction is in Transylvania and Banat, Romania. Funds for the network--European Currency Unit $142 million or US$200 million--were secured through government loans granted to Romania last year by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
