Optical cables

Ericsson Cables AB and Telia AB, both in Sweden, have agreed to make Ericsson the main supplier of fiber-optic cables to Telia during 1996 and 1997. The agreement includes the manufacture of duct and submarine cables containing 12 to 96 optical fibers. The submarine cable, which has an environmentally protected and hermetic sheath of copper instead of lead, has been jointly developed by Ericsson and Telia.
